Please read the assembly instructions carefully before starting the installation! This will help you avoid problems and save time.

Recommendations :

• Store the garden building kit awaiting erection in a dry place, away from direct contact with the ground, and protected from the weather (humidity, sun, etc.). Do not store the kit in a heated space!
• When choosing a location for your cabin, make sure it will not be exposed to extreme weather conditions (heavy snowfall or strong winds); otherwise, it should be secured to the ground (e.g. with anchors).
• All wooden parts are untreated, and the customer must treat them with a wood preservative to make them resistant to the effects of weather.

What does the delivery package include?

The yard building delivery package includes ready-to-assemble parts. The package includes the parts needed to erect the building: pressure-treated logs for the lowest log floor, planed, fully tongued roof boards, bolted wall sections, rafters, glazed doors and windows, ceiling and skirting boards, fixing materials such as screws and nails, etc. Floor boards are not included in all packages, please refer to the description attached to each product, which indicates which parts are included in the installation kit and which products can be purchased separately. 

The delivery package weighs 300–2,000 kg, depending on the size of the building. Since the contents of the delivery sets vary from product to product, it is worth reading the description attached to each product, which shows which parts are included in the installation set and which products can be purchased separately. For example, in playhouses, instead of normal window glass, we use plexiglass for safety reasons, which does not break as easily; some buildings come with bitumen felt, which is usually offered as an additional product, etc.

Preparation of building components:

Sort the building components according to the wall drawings (see “Technical data”) and place them in the order of installation on the four sides of the building.

Attention :

Never place building blocks directly on grass or muddy surfaces, as they can be very difficult or even impossible to clean later!

Yard building installation

The installation of a yard building begins with building the foundation. It is not necessary to pour a concrete foundation; lightweight blocks, concrete slabs or piles are also suitable as a base, which must be sunk and leveled before installing the building to prevent subsidence.

Each building comes with assembly instructions that detail all key assembly steps and illustrate them with detailed drawings. You can view the assembly instructions in the product description on Palmako’s website.

Foundation

Prepare the foundation so that its top edge is at least 5 cm above the ground and the bottom runners are attached to each side of it at intervals of no more than 50-60 cm. At the same time, make sure that there are sufficient ventilation holes under the floor of the building. 

The following foundation options are recommended:

• strip or column foundation
• a foundation assembled from concrete blocks or paving slabs
• concrete foundation cast in place.

The building’s base structure must be completely smooth and level for the installation to proceed without problems.

Wood is a natural material that grows and adapts to weather conditions. Large and small cracks, differences and changes in color tone, and the changing structure of the wood are not defects, but the result of the growth of wood and its uniqueness as a natural material. 

Untreated wood (excluding the lower courses) that remains uncoated for a long time will turn grey over time, and may turn blue and become mouldy. To protect the wooden parts of the product, they should be treated immediately with a wood preservative or use the impregnation service that Palmako is happy to offer. 

It is a good idea to treat the floorboards with a colorless wood preservative in advance – especially the undersides of the boards, which you will no longer be able to access once the garden building is assembled. This is the only way to prevent moisture from penetrating the boards. 

It is also a good idea to treat doors and windows with wood preservative – both inside and out! Otherwise, the doors and windows may warp. 

Once the product has been assembled, it is a good idea to paint the product with a weather-resistant protective paint that protects the wood from moisture and UV radiation.

When painting, use quality paints and tools, follow the paint application instructions and other usage and safety instructions provided by the paint manufacturer. Do not paint in direct sunlight or rain. Consult with an expert about which paint is suitable for untreated softwood, and follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions. 

When your product is painted correctly, its lifespan will be significantly extended. Palmako recommends that you carefully check the condition of the building every six months
